This is gonna be a short one, but it took me some time to figure out. Microsoft recently released a new version of the copilot studio designer, or should I say the Agentic Automations
In this simplified designer a weird discrepancy appeared, namely that exporting translations for secondary languages does not work. If you open a bot, go to settings, then scroll down to the "Languages" section it will look something like this:
Clicking on the manage button you get the choice to download the translation as JSON or RESX, and to upload an updated translation file. In the new designer, it will download translations for your primary language (yes, you heard that right). So if you added a speech action to a topic you can't get all your old translations, you need to start from scratch.
Or you can switch to the classic designer
Luckily for me (and maybe, you) the old designer is still available, although hidden away. If you click the ellipsis button next to your name in the bottom left, you have the choice to switch to the "classic" experience.
Doing this will allow you to perform the exact same steps as above, but this time the translations will actually be in the secondary language you selected.
Now let's just hope it gets fixed before the classic experience is removed...
